What is stress?
Stress is the body's reaction to a challenge or demand, producing a feeling of physical or emotional tension.
It can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated or nervous, and it's often associated with life changes that require extra effort, disrupting a person's well-being.
Stress can be positive because it helps you achieve certain challenges, such as meeting a work deadline. However, prolonged stress can be detrimental to your health.
How does stress affect me?
When a person suffers from stress, it is usually reflected in one of the following characteristic signs:
Emotions: fear, anxiety, irritability, nervousness.
Thoughts: repetitive thoughts, worry about the future, forgetfulness, excessive self-criticism.
Behaviors: alcohol or tobacco use, crying, speech difficulties, rough handling in social relationships.
Physical changes: back or neck problems, headache, palpitations and labored breathing, stomach upset.
Why am I stressed?
The causes of stress are very varied because each person reacts differently to life events.
